David Blake, a forensic Specialist from the Division of Aging Services, GA Department of Human Services will give overview of abuse, neglect, and exploitation involving vulnerable and at-risk adults, the laws in Georgia relating to abuse, the different agencies that respond and where to report suspected abuse.

We are expected to have over 80 vendors - 25 of which will be services and products specifically relevant to older adults. The Senior Citizen Council is collaborating with the Gary Hill Network, a networking organization that has been promoting local businesses in Cobb for decades. Come learn about convenient services available right in our neighborhood. It's FREE but registration is required.

Adults age 55+ are invited on Friday, September 20 for a morning of fun and free activities. Admission, parking, and special activities for seniors are FREE and will take place from 9 am – 1 pm before the fair opens; when the fair opens at 4 pm, everyone age 55+ gets in FREE. The Senior Citizen Council of Cobb celebrates National Senior Citizens Day. Each year SCC holds a celebratory award luncheon on National Senior Citizens Day. The awardees are presented with a proclamation of Life Achievement issued and presented by a Cobb County Commissioner. The celebration includes lunch, music and entertainment for the attendees. PLEASE register by August 31 so we get an accurate food count.

The Senior Citizen Council of Cobb is excited to participate once again in the Cobb County International Festival, which will be held 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Saturday, August 24. This free event will feature a wide variety of local and international music and art, eclectic dancing, delicious culinary options, imaginative crafts, beautiful jewelry, a kids’ corner, and many other vendors. Cobb County held its inaugural International Festival in 2019. It was a success, widely attended, and well received by the business and local community. We hope you will stop at our booth return to celebrate the diversity of cultures within Cobb County. This is a free event. Free parking and admission to the event. Here's your chance to ask the Cobb Directors of Transportation and Cobb Senior Services how much of the County's budget is being allocated to meet the travel needs of Seniors. You'll also hear about the proposed Cobb Mobility (30-year) SPLOST tax to be voted on in this year's General Election and how it affects Seniors. Additionally, paid members will have the chance to vote for volunteers who will lead the Senior Council this year.
